What you need to know about GMO…
That to genetically alter a plant, Viruses and tumor-causing Bacteria are used to “trick” the gene of one species into accepting the gene of another.
That they are fusing fish genes with tomatoes genes and worse!
That BT corn contains an insecticide that kills the corn boil when he eats any part of the plant. (What do you think it does when it gets into your stomach?)
That 13 European countries have banned GMO’s. They are waiting to see what happens to the children in the United States over the next ten years.
That GMO’s do absolutely nothing for the consumer as far as taste or nutrition is concerned.
That over 70% of foods in U.S. and Canadian grocery stores already contain GMO’s
That these Franken-foods have not been safety tested on humans.
That products containing GMO’s are not currently required to be labeled!
That without labeling, there is no way to track new illnesses, allergic reactions or environmental changes to these foods….and no liability to the chemical and seed companies.
That without labeling, there is no way to tell if you are eating genetically modified food or whole food.
That this means we are all unwillingly guinea pigs in the largest biological experiment ever undertaken by mankind.

I was appalled by the hasty FDA approval of cloned cow milk. Despite public disapproval, over 150,000 letters of disapproval written to the FDA, despite the fact hat Canada and most European countries have banned cloned cow products until their long term safety can be proven, and despite the fact that Congress just passed legislation urging the FDA to study the economic ramifications before moving ahead, the FDA not only rushed to pass it’s approval, but will not even require labeling of these products.
This means that you and I and all the school children in the U.S. will not know what we are drinking. The American consumer will once again be experimented on by the same people that brought us DDT, DES, Thalidomide and the Bovine Growth Hormone.
This is just another instance of how Big Brother, the Pharm-Chem-Petro Industry is now running things in the U.S. and our government agencies are kissing their very rich, lobbying backsides.
This spring I noticed the farmer’s spraying their fields with chemicals….probably Round Up. Thousands of pounds of this and other deadly elixirs are sprayed on our food supplies each year, while innocent consumers….thinking we are making healthy choices….consume them. Substances that we know to be carcinogenic, and are suspected to cause Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, ADD and infertility as well.
The question is, “what do these poisons do in small doses when we ingest them over a long period of time?” Many scientists believe that when you ingest something that is designed to destroy the life system of a plant, or an insect, it will work the same magic act on whatever it comes into contact with, like a human cell for instance. It may take 15-25 years, but that is just about how long it takes a cancerous tumor to form. Coincidence? I don’t think so. Neither did Rachel Carson or John F. Kennedy when he outlawed DDT. Had Rachel and JFK lived, they surely would have outlawed Atrazine, a chemical strongly linked to breast cancer, which is still being sprayed on corn and sold to the general public at the local garden store in a product called Image. Roundup, which is linked to Lymphoma is used everywhere.
You wouldn’t think that dangerous chemical residues lie buried in the very DNA of the beautiful fruits and vegetables in the grocery stores today. Genetically altered tomatoes with skins so thick they never bruise in shipping and seeds practically a thing of the past.
There may be a need for some chemicals in our world, but hundreds of thousands of pounds annually is just unnecessary, and causes more harm than good to us, to the world’s ecosystem and to global warming. Some even think it causes diseases like West Nile.

How much poison do you want in your air tonight?
Bill Backus’ letter to forum of August 31st criticizes Ms. Delegan for not getting the facts, regarding her letter on the spraying of chemicals to kill the mosquitoes. I have been researching the facts for four years now and I fully agree with Ms. Delegan.
The “facts” are that Oswego sprays a product called “Bio-Mist” The primary ingredient is Permethrin, known as a pyrethroid, often promoted as “safer than Malathion” ,but this is not true.
Pyrethroids are toxic to the thyroid and immune systems. No safe exposure level has been scientifically established. A study in Environmental Health Perspectives (vol 107,no.3, march 99) suggests that “Pyrethroids should be considered to be hormone disruptors and their potential to affect Endocrine function in humans and wildlife should be investigated.” Study also indicated that this chemical can cause breast cancer in women and lower sperm count in men. When the endocrine system is disrupted, old cells can mutate and grow.
The next ingredient in the spray is BPO, Piperonyl Butoxide who’s “job” is basically to
Destroy the “hosts” natural protective devices and let the pyrethroid do it’s work .
There are “inert” ingredients in these sprays as well, usually Naphtha (Petroleum) which is very toxic.
It is easy to “slant the facts” to help get products approved by the EPA, which itself has been criticized by it’s own employees.
West Nile disease is rare, and produces only flu-like symptoms in most healthy people. It is a disease that mosquitoes acquire from birds. Should we then kill all the birds? And if we kill all the mosquitoes, what will the bats eat? In playing God, we upset the natural order of life. As Rachel Carson said, “when we wage a war on nature, we are waging a war on ourselves.”
It is unrealistic to think we can eliminate all carcinogens from the modern world. However, many are just unnecessary and only serve to make the Petroleum Chemical Industry the richest industry in the world. But at what price?
How much poison do you want in your air tonight? I vote for none.
My suggestion to Ms.Delegan and to every concerned citizen is to speak up. Call your congressman’s legislative rep at 202-224-3121.
Feeling sluggish? Perhaps it’s something in your water…
why are we still dumping thousands of pounds of sodium fluoride into our drinking water when scientists now refute it’s dental benefits and link it to such things as bone cancer in boys, thyroid problems, fluorosis, lower I.Q. and ADD?
Most European counties have chosen fluoride-free water, yet according to the World Health Organization, tooth decay rates are just as low, and in fact often lower than the tooth decay rates in the U.S.
Contrary to previous belief, fluoride has little benefit when swallowed and is the only water additive that does nothing to purify the water. It is strictly forced medication, something that many European countries consider “violating the Nuremberg Code for human experimentation.”
In 2006, the ADA advised parents not to give water containing fluoride to babies. And interestingly, Adolf Hitler gave fluoridated water to his prisoners to make them docile.
Sodium fluoride or fluorosilicic acid are industrial waste products from the phosphate fertilizer Industry.
Lower income families are at higher risk of fluoride poisoning as they cannot afford European bottled water.
Our local water facilities are mandated by the State of Illinois to dump this chemical into our water. It is the law. Why? Because someone is making a ton of money selling it at the tax payers expense. I am no expert, but I suspect that the same people who are putting this chemical into our drinking water supplies, are also selling us alleged treatments for the diseases it is causing such as Alzheimer’s, ADD , Osteoporosis, Erectile Dysfunction and depression.
In any event, the health risks of fluoride far outweigh the benefits, so let’s get it out of our water now.
